GayRealms (a div. of GLINN Publishing Corp.) offers commercial web hosting. We recently installed a new full T1 circuit that is directly connected into the Excite@Home (AT HOME) dual OC-48 national backbone.
Most other ISP's in Milwaukee are connected to the public NAP (Network Access
Point) in Chicago operated by Ameritech where they exchange traffic with other ISPs
and backbone operators. To connect to a Milwaukee web site, the user of a Milwaukee ISP would have their traffic hauled to Chicago, handed off to another ISP and then hauled back. Even big providers in Milwaukee are hauling their traffic to the congested public NAP in Chicago. AT HOME is privately peered with all major backbone providers in the U.S. and many smaller ones too, so we avoid the public NAP in Chicago.
GayRealms and GLINN also have a 128k dedicated ISDN connection for backup and DNS. Secondary DNS is provided by two different ISP's for maximum redundancy.
Customers have a choice of Windows NT Server running MS IIS 4.0, including ASP
support and Front Page 2000 Extensions, or Linux servers running Apache. We also have servers for Audio and Video Streaming of RealAudio content. Dedicated and colocated servers are available. Our colocation rates are the best in Milwaukee.
All GayRealms servers, routers, modems and other equipment in our Milwaukee headquarters are backed up by APC Backup Pro Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). Monitors and secondary equipment is powered in emergencies with a bank of large marine batteries and inverters. In the case of long term power failures, GayRealms has dual 5,000 watt electrical generators in-house.
All GayRealms customers also receive access to our Milwaukee dialup. If your own ISP goes down, and you need to access your site or need emergency internet access, you can dial directly into our Milwaukee dialup facility and get out onto the internet or connect directly to your own web site.
All web sites hosted by GayRealms receive a gateway mail account. This means that you can use any "names" that you want, and all mail addressed to your domain goes into one box. Your mail box is available with any standard mail reader program or over with web with our easy to use graphical web interface. The web interface makes it easy and convenient to check your mail when you are not at your own computer.

UPS in private cages is customer responsibility. Support services billed at $30.00 per hour w/support plan, $50.00 per hr. without. Cage size: 2'x3'x7'. Large Cage: 3.5'x5'x7' add $50.00 per month.
